Phantoms are too real for their opponents

October 29, 2008 05:41 PM – Their opponents only wish that the Cooksville Phantoms would go away.

But unfortunately for their peers, the Atom A team has been quite a presence on the tournament circuit early this season.

The Mississauga Hockey League representatives won their second tournament of the campaign on the Oct. 18-19 weekend in Bracebridge.

After placing second in the preliminary round, the Phantoms captured the
Don Bell Memorial Hockey Tournament with a 4-0 win over the Bracebridge Bears.
The Phantoms had lost to the Bears 1-0 in the preliminary round, but rebounded to defeat Kincardine 6-0 in the semi-finals.

“The boys played exceptional hockey and really worked hard,” said Phantoms head coach Doug Mackenzie. “They never gave up and in the end, they were rewarded for their work.”

Members of the championship team include goalie Jack LaFontaine, Adam Wickham, Matthew Porter, Peter Mackenzie, Jake, Orvis and Ethan MacDonald, Jordan Hum, Matthew Pamenter, Steven Guest, Cory Kuhar, Joey Marino, Joseph Borg, Ryan Dauncey, Quinn Finch and Devon Klingenberg.

Mackenzie was assisted by Gabe Loreti, Terry Klingenberg, Mike Dauncey, Rob Porter and Barb MacDonald.
