TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Cooksville Hockey Association is again proud to host the 2011/2012 Cooksville Phantoms Tournament of Champions scheduled for the weekend of January 21 / 22, 2012. Again the tournament is not for Red / Select teams and is for Novice and Atom teams. All players will receive a trophy and all teams will enter a championship game. Below is more information!

 

 

  • House League only – NO A, RED or SELECT teams
  • The tournament will be played under CHA and M.H.L. rules

NOTE: No centre ice off sides in this tournament

  • No additions may be made to a team’s master tournament roster after the commencement of the teams first game.
  • It is the aim of the tournament to provide an opportunity for the players to participate in a tournament that will increase their skills and promote good sportsmanship.It is expected that coaches, managers, trainers and spectators will not create situations that are in opposition to this aim.
  • 3 game round robin with a final Championship game. All teams are guaranteed 4 games.
  • All games will be 3 x 10 minute periods. All games are stop time with the exception of the ‘Mercy’ rule. From the 3rd period onward, if there is a spread of five (5) or more goals, the clock then goes onto running time and does not stop unless the goal spread falls below three (3) goals.
  • Any team official or player who receives a game misconduct, gross misconduct, match penalty

or game ejection shall not participate until their case has been dealt with by the discipline committee. Their decision shall be final.

  • No body checking permitted
  • Each team shall have a suggested minimum of twelve players. Only currently carded team officials (manager, coaches, and trainer) will he allowed on the bench during games.
  • All players, including goal tenders, must wear CSA approved helmets, face masks and neck protectors.
  • Certified neck guards must be worn by all players

 

  • Interior mouth guards, while strongly recommended, are not mandatory
  • The tournament Committee shall decide on any rule in question during this tournament. Their decision shall be final.
  • All teams are to be ready to play 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time.
  • In preliminary round play, each team will play 3 games and will be awarded 2 points for a win, 0 points for a loss and 1 point for a tie.
  • Novice (8 teams)

  • Each preliminary round game will consist of three (3) 10-minute stop time periods, with a 2 minute warm-up, time permitting. A flood may / may not be scheduled prior to each game depending if time permits.

 

  • In the preliminary rounds, each team will play each team in their respective Pool (3 games).

 

  • In the event of a tie in the team standings at the conclusion of the preliminary round, the order of the standings will be determined as follows:
    1. The record against each other – if still tied,
    2. Add goals for to goals against and divide into goals for, the team with the higher Percentage will advance
    1. If still tied, flip a coin to determine placement.
  • Championship Round – All teams will be involved in the Championship round.

 

  • Each Championship game will consist of three (3) 10-minute stop time periods, with a 2 minute warm-up, time permitting. A flood may / may not be scheduled prior to each game depending if time permits.

    4th place POOL ‘C’ vs. 4th place POOL ‘D’

     

    • Each participant will receive either a Championship trophy or a Finalist trophy

     

    • In the Championship games, if tied at the end of regulation time:
      1. Will play a 5 minute overtime period (running time), 4 players per team.
      2. If still tied, will play another 5 minute overtime period (running time), 3 players per team.
      1. If still tied, three (3) players will be selected for a shootout. Coaches are to supply the Referees with the names of the players.
