By virtue of the best records in their respective divisions, the Cooksville Atom 'A' and PeeWee 'A' teams represented the MHL at the recent GTHL 'A' playdowns this past weekend. During the weekend of February 19 and 20, Westwood Arena hosted 1st place teams from the GTHL leagues as well as the 1st place finishers from the MHL in the annual playdowns.
Competition was fierce in all divisions, Cooksville was up against some very tough teams in both the Atom and PeeWee age groups.
Both Cooksville teams represented the MHL well. The Cooksville Atom 'A' team won the Atom 'A' division going undefeated ending with 8 points and their closest competitor, Markham Islanders and Humber Valley Sharks with 2 points each. Cooksville wins the Atom 'A' loop and is heading to the Provincials in early April. Our PeeWee 'A' team also played well and was up against some tough teams evenutally ending with a Silver Medal finishing second to the Vaughan Panthers. Still a gutsy performance.
